Who runs the site
ExtremeSpec Auto, at auto.extremespec.net, is an information website run from the United States by the ExtremeSpec Auto Editorial Team. This policy describes the information the site handles and the choices you have. Questions can go to privacy@auto.extremespec.net.
Information we collect
The site does not sell anything, has no user accounts, no paid memberships and no newsletter, and comments are turned off. The information that does reach us falls into three groups.
- Server logs. The web host keeps standard logs showing IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
- Contact messages. If you use the contact form, it sends your message by email to our editorial inbox. We do not use the form data for anything else.
- Analytics. Google Analytics is used to measure visits in aggregate, and it sets analytics cookies in your browser.
The site does not show display ads at the moment. We also use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google Search, and it does not place cookies on readers’ browsers.
Why we use it and how long we keep it
Server logs support security and troubleshooting, such as spotting unusual traffic or locating a broken page. Analytics tell us which pages are read so we can improve them. Messages are used to reply to you and, where it applies, to correct a page. We keep this information only as long as it serves these purposes or the law requires, after which it is deleted or overwritten in routine operation.
Cookies
The analytics cookies mentioned above are the only cookies set by the site itself. You can read more, including how to block or delete them, in the Cookie Policy.
Affiliate links and third-party sites
Some links lead to stores, mainly Amazon. When you click one, the store or network may set its own cookie to credit the referral. Amazon and other networks have their own privacy policies, and those policies govern what they collect. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us a message, tell us at the privacy address and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You may email us to ask what we hold from your messages or to request deletion. Residents of some U.S. states have extra rights under state privacy laws, including the right to request access to or deletion of personal information. Send your request to privacy@auto.extremespec.net and describe what you want. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting. You can also limit analytics by blocking cookies in your browser.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle. No website or email system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot promise absolute protection. Please do not put sensitive personal details in the contact form.
